The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI), held a public doctoral promotion at the Tjan Tjoe Som Auditorium, Hoesein Djajadiningrat Building, 1st Floor, on Thursday, July 9, 2026. On this occasion, Sulaeman successfully defended his dissertation titled “Transition and Consensus of Muhammadiyah Higher Education in Padang Panjang Amid Indonesia’s National Political Dynamics, 1955–1985” and earned a Doctorate in History Studies with the distinction of ‘Highly Satisfactory’. This achievement makes him the 498th doctoral graduate of FIB UI and the 8th doctoral graduate of the Doctoral Program in History Studies.
The doctoral promotion ceremony was chaired by Prof. Dr. Agus Aris Munandar, S.S., M.Hum. The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Yon Machmudi, S.S., Ph.D. as the promoter, with Prof. Dr. M.I. Djoko Marihandono, S.S., M.Hum. serving as the first co-promoter and Dr. Abdurakhman, S.S., M.Hum. as the second co-promoter. Dr. Didik Pradjoko, S.S., M.Hum.served as the Chair of the Board of Examiners. The examination committee also included Dr. Desvian Bandarsyah, M.Pd., Dr. Dwi Mulyatari, S.S., M.A., and Agus Setiawan, S.S., M.Si., Ph.D.
This doctoral promotion reflects FIB UI’s commitment to producing research that contributes to the advancement of historical studies and the humanities in Indonesia. Sulaeman’s achievement further strengthens FIB UI’s role in encouraging scholarly research that enriches the understanding of Indonesia’s history from diverse academic perspectives. (NT)
