The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI), continues to improve and upgrade its facilities to support academic activities and ensure the comfort of the academic community and visitors across the faculty grounds. A number of supporting facilities and infrastructure have been renovated and added across several areas of FIB UI.
These improvements include the provision of a smart classroom, restroom renovations, canteen repainting, drainage system repairs, the addition of a storage facility donated by the FIB UI Alumni Association (ILUNI UI FIB), and the installation of additional trash bins at various points.
One of the newly developed facilities is the smart classroom located on the 1st floor of Building VI – R.Z. Leirissa. Equipped with a Smart TV, this facility is designed to support learning activities that utilize digital devices and technology. Classroom seating was also upgraded, with 250 new chairs distributed across classrooms in Building IV – Hoesein Djajadiningrat, Building VI – R.Z. Leirissa, and Building IX – Sapardi Djoko Damono.
Beyond learning spaces, FIB UI renovated restrooms at three locations. The upgrades involved replacing cubicles, mirrors, wall surfaces, and lighting fixtures to enhance cleanliness and user comfort.
Facility improvements also extended to communal interaction spaces. In the canteen area, painting and repairs were carried out on kitchen walls, roofs, and corridors as part of the overall revitalization of the FIB UI canteen.
Environmental infrastructure maintenance focused on the drainage system to prevent waterlogging. Repairs were completed on a 250-meter drainage channel running from Building I – R.M.Ng. Poerbatjaraka, Building IV – Hoesein Djajadiningrat, and Building V – R. Soekmono toward the lake, ensuring an efficient drainage and water management system across FIB UI.
In addition to facilities directly tied to daily academic activities, FIB UI organized other supporting infrastructure. This includes a 10 m × 3.5 m storage facility donated by ILUNI UI FIB, named “Lumbung Smarakatha,” inaugurated by the Dean of FIB UI alongside the board of ILUNI UI FIB. The space will be utilized for asset storage.
Environmental management efforts were further strengthened with additional sanitation facilities. FIB UI installed 20 waste bin units across Building I – R.M.Ng. Poerbatjaraka through Building X – Koentjaraningrat. These new bins feature sorting compartments for hazardous waste (B3), recyclables, and organic waste, supporting waste management on campus and raising awareness among the academic community regarding waste segregation.
These various upgrades reflect FIB UI’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and developing supporting infrastructure for both academic and non-academic activities. The improvements are being carried out in phases based on the faculty’s facility needs.
With these enhancements, the FIB UI environment is expected to continuously support teaching and learning, research, community service, and various other faculty and academic activities. (Trans-CA)
