The campus’s teaching and learning process is currently supported by a professional academic staff of 3,000, 400 of whom are professors specializing in their respective disciplines. The hope is that UI will become a center of excellence in research and science in Asia. Given its current situation, UI has successfully played a crucial role as a powerhouse of knowledge and innovation, constantly evolving and transforming. This is inextricably linked to the role and support of more than 100 research centers under the auspices of the Directorate of Research and Community Service at the University of Indonesia. UI’s research environment is also fully supported by the policies of the Board of Trustees, which mandated a 2007-2010 roadmap emphasizing multidisciplinary research and teaching, with a focus on sustainable development, particularly in Nanotechnology, Genome Technology, Communication and Information Technology, and Policy Studies.
