Established in 1940, our faculty has a strong tradition of providing a rich and inspiring educational experience for our students led by educators who bring their research expertise, knowledge, and experience into the classroom. Our researchers and lecturers also carry out impactful research and community service which not only advances our understanding of culture, society, and the world we live in.
As one of the oldest Faculty of Humanities in Indonesia, our faculty offers a comprehensive range of postgraduate programmes in the areas of Asian Studies, Linguistics, Literature, Cultural Studies, History, Archaeology, Philosophy, and Information studies. Undergraduate students can develop their academic interests in different study programmes such as English, German, France, Russian, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, History, Archaeology, Philosophy, Library and Information Science. As part of Universitas Indonesia, our students can participate in different Student Exchange Programmes with global university partners as well as taking elective courses in other faculties, gaining an interdisciplinary education that will play an important role in their future life.
Our undergraduate and postgraduate students will learn from nationally and internationally renowned researchers and lecturers in the fields of language, literature, information, culture, history, archaeology, philosophy and Asian studies. Located in the biggest country in Southeast Asia, our Faculty of Humanities brings a unique cross-cultural perspective to a wide range of research interests of our students.
