The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) Research and Community Service Division held a Community Service Workshop focusing on Social Return on Investment (SROI) on September 24, 2025. This activity aimed to improve the capacity of lecturers and students in measuring the social impact of community service programs that have been implemented.
The workshop was officially opened by the Deputy Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs of FIB UI, Dr. Untung Yuwono, S.S. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of SROI-based measurement so that every community service program at FIB UI not only produces academic outputs but also provides measurable social, economic, and cultural benefits to the community.
The keynote speaker was Yosef Hilarius Timu Pera, S.Sos., M.Si., lecturer at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia, and SROI expert. In his presentation, Mr. Yosef explained the basic concept of SROI as a method for evaluating the social value generated by a program. He also provided examples of SROI application in community service activities in various sectors, as well as simple calculation techniques that can be applied by lecturers and students.
This activity involved FIB UI lecturers and students who have implemented or just started community service programs. The Manager of Research and Community Service at FIB UI, Harni Kartika Ningsih, Ph.D., and her team hoped that this activity would help participants gain a new understanding of the importance of data documentation, impact analysis, and SROI-based report preparation. It is also expected that this SROI training will strengthen the accountability and sustainability of community service programs, which are one of the strengths of FIB UI. (Trans-RMRW)
