BIPA UI Graduation Ceremony: Showcasing the Richness of Nusantara in Bali

The BIPA LBI FIB UI (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers, International Language Institute, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia) program held its closing ceremony. The event that was held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:00 to 13:00 at the Soe Hok Gie Auditorium, Building IX-Sapardi Djoko Damono FIB UI, is a form of celebration of the graduation of BIPA 3 participants as well as an appreciation for the enthusiasm for learning of BIPA 1 and 2 participants. The theme of the BIPA Program Closing Event for the May-August 2025 Period is “Bali: A Form of Diversity in the Nusantara”.

In keeping with the theme, the venue was specially decorated with Balinese nuances. In addition, most of the participants and teachers at BIPA who attended also wore Balinese clothing or accessories. Besides being attended by BIPA UI participants, the event was also attended by various invited guests. From the internal campus, the Finance Manager of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Dwi Puspitorini, M.Hum., and representatives of the Director of Education Internationalization, Universitas Indonesia. From the external campus, the Chairperson of APPBIPA Greater Jakarta, representatives from the Faculty of Letters and Cultures, Gunadarma University, and the Head of the International Office, Gunadarma University, were also present.

The closing ceremony of the BIPA Program for the May-August 2025 period was opened with a musical performance from the Arumba Culture Class by performing the song “Selalu Ada di Nadimu”, followed by the performance of the Balinese Gamelan Culture Class by playing the music “Gendhing Janger”.  Next, the BIPA 3 graduates entered the auditorium accompanied by a Balinese barong. The event continued with a report from the BIPA Program Manager of LBI FIB UI, Sri Handayani Yasa, M.Hum., remarks from the Dean of FIB UI represented by Dr. Dwi Puspitorini, M.Hum., and the presentation of medals to 26 BIPA 3 graduates.

In addition to the graduation ceremony for BIPA 3 participants, this event also marks the end of the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) Special BIPA Program in 2025. Deputy Director of Academic Affairs, Human Resources, and Facilities, Nandika Mandiri, M.Hum., presented mementos to 17 HUFS BIPA program participants who had completed the 3-week study period. The event continued with the awarding of BIPA 1, 2, and 3 participants as a form of appreciation for the hard work of the participants while studying at BIPA UI.

As in previous events, the Closing of the BIPA Program is always enlivened by the performance of BIPA participants who take part in cultural classes. The arumba performed two songs, “Koyo Jogja Istimewa” and “Janger”. The NgoPI (Ngobrol Bareng BIPA UI) class aired a testimony of the participants while attending the class. Meanwhile, the event was also enlivened by a video showing the making of Furoshiki from the BINON (Nonformal Indonesian Language) class, which, of course, uses Indonesian with non-formal varieties. As the closing performance, the Dancing Culture Class performed the “Asmara Dahana” Dance.

It is not at BIPA UI if you only learn in class and in cultural classes, BIPA UI participants do activities outside the classroom, such as learning visits, which this time were carried out together, starting from BIPA 1, 2, and 3 to the Betawi Cultural Village. In addition, BIPA participants also had the opportunity to take part in the Agustusan event at BIPA UI, an annual event organized to celebrate the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

After all the activities, it was time to say “goodbye”. It was hard to say goodbye. However, there is something waiting in the wings. Thanks to BIPA UI, BIPA UI participants experience diversity. At BIPA UI, they also get friendship and friendship. The warmth and togetherness during this one term were closed with happiness and joy through the closing of the Regular BIPA Program May-August 2025.
