FIB UI Participates in the Second Batch of the Building Energy Management Capacity Building Program

The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) took part in the second batch of the Building Energy Management Capacity Building Program organized by the Directorate of Energy Conservation, Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), in collaboration with the Institute for Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Management (IREEM) and the UK PACT (United Kingdom Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transition) program.

Universitas Indonesia was represented by Dr. Hendra Kaprisma, S.Hum. (Manager of General Affairs FIB UI), Yatin Nuryanto, S.E. (Assistant Manager of General Affairs FIB UI), and Iradati Rabbil Izzati, S.Si., (Head of the Asset Commercialization Development Section, UI) in the three-day training held from 10 to 12 November 2025 at Hotel Ibis Styles Bogor.

This activity serves as a follow-up to Government Regulation No. 33 of 2023 on Energy Conservation and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 8 of 2025 on Energy Management. The training focused on enhancing participants’ technical capacity in:

  1. Developing and implementing energy management plans,
  2. Conducting energy audits for buildings,
  3. Carrying out energy consumption monitoring and energy conservation measures,
  4. Understanding climate change aspects in facility management.

Participants received in-depth materials on the Energy Management System (EnMS), the implementation of ISO 50001, and practical guidance for preparing energy management reporting documents for their respective institutions.

FIB UI’s participation in this program aligns with the faculty’s vision of Smart Energy for Smart Campus—a systematic effort to reduce electricity consumption, increase energy efficiency, and lower carbon emissions on campus. As part of Universitas Indonesia’s commitment to sustainable development, FIB UI situates this initiative within Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. Through this training, FIB UI strengthens its institutional capacity in energy management, expands the implementation of efficient and environmentally friendly energy practices, and supports the transition toward a greener, energy-independent, and climate-resilient campus.

Dr. Hendra Kaprisma stated that this activity marks an important step in strengthening energy governance at FIB UI. The FIB UI academic community is committed to gradually integrating the Energy Management System (EnMS) to transform FIB UI into an efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable faculty. As an initial implementation and concrete step, FIB UI has (1) identified areas with the highest energy consumption (Significant Energy Use / SEU), (2) mapped energy baselines and energy performance indicators (EnPI), and (3) developed an energy-saving action plan, including replacing LED lights, installing sensor-based faucets, and placing automatic lights in various building areas.

This program is expected to reduce annual electricity consumption, with the potential to save up to 5% in energy costs per year at FIB UI. These efforts may serve as a model for sustainable energy management across the Universitas Indonesia campus. (Trans-CA)
