The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI), welcomed a courtesy visit from the delegation of the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:30 PM (WIB) at Room 2401, Building II Achadiati Ikram, UI Depok Campus. The visit aimed to strengthen institutional cooperation between the two universities, particularly in education, research, and the development of language and cultural studies.
The NTNU delegation was led by Prof. Yao-Ting Sung, Executive Vice President and Research Chair Professor at the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling. He was accompanied by Ovid Jyh-Lang Tzeng, Chair Professor in the same department and an honorary member of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA). The delegation also included distinguished professors and researchers from various disciplines, namely Prof. Tzu-Chien Liu, Prof. Chen-Chien (James) Hsu, Prof. Zhen-Xing Lin, Assoc. Prof. Jun Ren Lee, Asst. Prof. Tsui-Chun Hu, Dr. Jung-Mei Su, and Dr. Ming-Huei Cheng. Their presence reflected NTNU’s strong commitment to expanding its academic network and exploring opportunities for international research collaboration, especially with leading institutions in Southeast Asia.
The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Taufik Asmiyanto, M.Si., Acting Dean of FIB UI, accompanied by Rouli Esther, M.Si., M.A., Ph.D., Acting Vice Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs, and Dr. Junaidi, M.A., Manager for Cooperation and Venture at FIB UI. Also present were Dr. Adi Kristina Wulandari, M.Hum., Head of the Chinese Studies Program, and faculty members from the same program who actively discussed potential joint academic initiatives in Mandarin language instruction and linguistic research.
In addition, representatives from the International Language Institute (LBI) of FIB UI participated in the meeting, including Dr. Myrna Laksman, Head of LBI, along with program and division managers from the Language Service Program (PPB), the Indonesian Language Program for Foreign Speakers (BIPA), as well as the HR and Marketing divisions. Their participation underscored LBI’s vital role in supporting FIB UI’s international cooperation, particularly in language education and cultural exchange.
In a warm and productive atmosphere, both parties discussed various potential collaborations, including student and faculty exchange programs, guest lectures in regular courses, joint curriculum development for Mandarin language teaching, Indonesian Studies, and a two-week Short Course on Indonesian language and culture, as well as joint research on educational technology. Cooperation related to the BIPA program will include the offering of the TIBA test. In the near future, NTNU and FIB UI plan to follow up on the development of a Taiwan Studies course, beginning with the renewal of cooperation documents.
This meeting marked an important step toward a strategic partnership between Universitas Indonesia and National Taiwan Normal University, expected to strengthen academic networks and enrich both institutions’ contributions to the advancement of knowledge and education at regional and global levels.
