The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI), in collaboration with Adelphi University, New York, and SUN Education Group, held an international workshop entitled “Entrepreneurship for Humanities: Turning Ideas and Empathy into Impact” on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. WIB in Room 10303, Koentjaraningrat Building, FIB UI.
The event features James Boney, Managing Director of Adelphi International, as the keynote speaker. Through interactive seminars and workshops, James will introduce the concept of social entrepreneurship, an entrepreneurial approach that focuses not only on financial gain but also on real solutions to social issues. Dr. Junaidi, S.S., Manager of Cooperation and Ventures, delivered the opening remarks.
This workshop was specifically designed for humanities students and aimed to demonstrate how humanities graduates can become innovative entrepreneurs, introduce creative business thinking based on empathy and culture, and inspire students to utilize their communication skills, cultural understanding, and ethical sensitivity in addressing real-world challenges.
The event was divided into several sessions, ranging from presentations on the power of the humanities in business innovation, an introduction to the 4P concept (Purpose, People, Profit, Planet), to a group activity called “Build a Social Impact Startup” where participants were asked to design ideas for startups with social impact and present them in a short pitch session.
Through this activity, FIB UI students gained hands-on experience in designing creative solutions for issues such as education, the environment, and equality, while also being introduced to international study opportunities in entrepreneurship & innovation, creative industries, and social enterprise management in the United States.
This activity is exclusively open to FIB UI students and is expected to serve as a gateway for strategic collaboration between FIB UI and Adelphi University in the realm of global humanities-based innovation. (RMRW)
