On October 6, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) welcomed representatives from Griffith University—Dr. Samid Suliman, Stefhani Doulay, and Dony Vernianto—to discuss potential academic collaboration between the two institutions. FIB UI was represented by Dr. Junaidi, Manager for Partnership and Venture, and Megawati, Project Specialist.
The meeting focused on exploring academic and study opportunities between FIB UI and Griffith University. Proposed programs include study abroad, archaeology, and PhD programs, as well as summer schools and specialized programs for postgraduate students, with a particular emphasis on multiculturalism.
The discussion also highlighted the potential for organizing postgraduate colloquia, which could be conducted both online and offline to facilitate research exchange. Areas of shared interest include Cultural Studies and opportunities for students to take courses at both FIB UI and Griffith University. Additionally, both parties discussed possibilities for collaboration in public speaking programs and other forms of virtual cooperation.
Future initiatives may include visiting lecturers (with events conducted online or in person), joint research projects, and the development of double or joint degree programs for international classes, potentially under a 2+2 or 3+1 scheme—either as joint or single degrees. The discussion also underscored the importance of formalizing the collaboration through official agreement documents and considering a one-year program option as part of the partnership framework.
This meeting marks a promising step toward strengthening academic and cultural collaboration between FIB UI and Griffith University, fostering international engagement and enriching the educational experience for students from both institutions. (CA)
