The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) held the 4th International Symposium on Document, Records, and Archives (ISDRA) 2025 on September 24, 2025. With the theme of Archival Science and Archival Studies, this event serves as an international forum to discuss current issues, methodologies, and policy development in the field of archival science.
In his speech at the Auditorium of Building 1 – Toety Heraty Noerhadi, Dean of FIB UI, Dr. Bondan Kanumoyoso, S.S., M.Hum., emphasized that archives are not merely administrative records, but also documentary heritage that records the historical journey, identity, and cultural values of a nation. According to him, the role of universities is very important in strengthening the development of archival science, especially through research, education, and collaboration with the international academic community.
The Head of ANRI, Dr. Mego Pinandito, M.Eng., delivered his remarks via video. In addition, the organizing committee’s report was presented by the Director of the Archival System Directorate, Drs. Florentinus Kristiartono, M.M. Also present was the Principal Secretary of ANRI, Rini Agustiani, S.H., M.A.P., who was accompanied by the Deputy for Archival Systems and Information, Wiwi Diana Sari, S.Si., M.A., who also delivered a speech.
As the host, FIB UI has strengthened its position as a center for Humanities studies and archiving in Indonesia. The forum was attended by experts from within and outside the country, including Prof. Sue McKemmish (Monash University), Alfred Chikomba (Victoria University of Wellington), Prof. Dr. Nurdin Laugu (UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta), and M. Prabu Wibowo (Universitas Indonesia).
In addition to the symposium sessions, ISDRA 2025 also featured academic presentations from Call for Paper participants divided into three categories, namely archival science, archival studies, and digital archives. This activity strengthened international collaboration networks while demonstrating FIB UI’s tangible contribution to promoting the development of archives in the digital age.
With the successful implementation of ISDRA 2025, FIB UI further affirms its commitment as an educational institution actively involved in strengthening the archival ecosystem, both at the national and international levels. (RMRW)
