The Faculty of Humanities of the Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) introduced the faculty’s profile to students in grades X, XI, and XII of SMA Nasional Plus BPK Penabur Bogor. Chysanti Arumsari, M.A., as the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of FIB UI delivered various information about FIB UI in English. Ms. Piska, Vice Principal for Student Affairs of National Plus BPK Penabur High School, Bogor, and Ms. Melly Toelihere warmly welcomed this information session. The activity, held in the school auditorium on 29 August 2025, was attended by more than 70 students. Two students from the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia, were also present to provide motivation for the students.
In her presentation, Ms. Chysanti delivered a video profile of FIB UI, reviewing a brief history, vision, and mission, study programs, facilities, and opportunities that FIB UI students can access. She emphasized that studying at FIB is not only about learning cultural sciences, but also a fun and useful experience. For the undergraduate level, there are 15 study programs offered. There are 11 language-based study programs (Indonesian, Javanese, and foreign) and 4 non-language-based study programs.
In this socialization, it was emphasized that although the naming of study programs at FIB UI is dominated by the word “Sastra”, what is studied is not only literature. Students will be equipped with, for example, linguistics, community studies, international relations, popular culture, philosophy, and other applied courses such as translation and public speaking in various languages.
FIB UI is one of the oldest faculties at the Universitas Indonesia, and this year it celebrates its 86th Anniversary. The faculty has a vision to become an institution of excellence and international reputation, while still prioritizing cultural values, humanity, and the use of digital technology. The study programs offered are not only at the undergraduate level, but also at the postgraduate master’s and doctoral levels. Most of the study programs have been accredited A/Excellent, and some have even received international recognition from AUN-QA and AHPGS. In the QS World University Ranking 2025, FIB UI is ranked 190th in the world for Arts and Humanities and 1st in Indonesia. Some specialized fields of study, such as Modern Languages and Library & Information Management, are also ranked in the world.
In addition, FIB UI is known for its green and friendly environment. In the UI GreenMetric Ranking 2024, FIB was named the second most sustainable faculty at UI. FIB UI students also have many opportunities to participate in international programs, such as the Indonesian International Student Mobility Award (IISMA), which provides opportunities to study at universities abroad, for example, in Italy, Japan, England, and Australia.
FIB UI graduates have a wide range of career paths, from media, ministries, embassies, publishing, advertising, education, and multinational companies. Based on tracer study data, most FIB alumni get their first job within three months after graduation.
Through this activity, students of SMA Nasional Plus BPK Penabur Bogor are expected to get a clearer picture of the various undergraduate study programs offered at FIB UI, ranging from language fields to non-language studies. The information provided also includes the dynamics of daily lectures, such as student activities that can be followed, entry paths to the University of Indonesia, as well as the career potential of FIB UI graduates who are open to various sectors.
The enthusiasm of the students can be seen from the variety of questions asked, especially about life as a student of FIB UI and strategies for entering the university, both through national channels and independent selection. Some were also curious about the job prospects of graduates, including in the creative and entertainment fields, which shows that students see FIB UI as not only a place to study, but also an opportunity to develop, work, build relationships, and achieve a broader future at the national and international levels.
