The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) has officially launched the logo for its 86th anniversary as a symbol of the long journey of the Cultural Campus in celebrating diversity while nurturing human values. This logo is not only a visual identity but also a reminder of the spirit of unity, creativity, and shared pride as part of the FIB UI family.
Under the theme “Cultural Campus: Weaving Diversity, Nurturing Humanity,” the 86th Anniversary celebrations will take place from August to December 2025. Various activities will be organized to reflect cultural richness, the spirit of togetherness, and FIB UI’s role in realizing progressive ideas for the development of the humanities and maintaining harmony amid the nation’s diversity.
The 86th Anniversary logo of FIB UI features cultural symbols from Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara. The horse represents communication with ancestral spirits, appearing in Pasola, traditional weddings, and Marapu funerals, symbolizing the fertility of the land, marriage as a symbol of lineage, and also depicting a vehicle to escort spirits to the divine. The Mamuli motif, a distinctive Sumba geometric pattern depicting the female womb, symbolizes the complexity of women with both masculine and feminine values. Mamuli is a symbol of the balance of strength and love, as well as a symbol of the guardian of life.
The number 86 is designed in a modern style with touches of the Universitas Indonesia’s makara and mamuli, combining traditional and academic values. This concept emphasizes FIB UI’s commitment to preserving diversity, connecting humanities studies with real-world practices in society, and making local traditions part of global academic dialogue.
The logo’s color philosophy is also rich in meaning: red symbolizes struggle and collective strength, white reflects openness and academic reflection, black affirms cultural roots and identity, while yellow, as UI’s signature color, symbolizes enlightenment and hope for the future.
