The Faculty of Humanities of Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) organized the 2nd Capacity Building Workshop for Digital Education and Humanities in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Directorate of Digital Education Development of Universitas Indonesia, and Pai Chai University. The four-day workshop on August 19-22, 2025, which was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs of FIB UI, Dr. Untung Yuwono, S.S., is part of a main program entitled “Capacity Building of the ICT-Based Integrated Knowledge System Development (C-Hub Connectivity) at Universitas Indonesia” run by FIB UI for the development of digital-based learning modes at Universitas Indonesia. The program, more popularly known as the UI-KOICA C-Hub Program, is a flagship grant project awarded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to Universitas Indonesia through the initiatives of FIB UI, with the goal of positioning Universitas Indonesia as an impactful center of excellence in digital learning and community empowerment.
Present at the 30-hour Workshop held at the Training Room of the Directorate of Digital Education Development, UI Depok Campus, were Mr. An Kwangsoo (Deputy Director of KOICA Indonesia), Professor Kim Jongyong (Project Manager from Pai Chai University), Ms. Kim Taehyung (Project Administrator Officer), Dr. Tamara Adriani Salim, (HR Manager of FIB UI, and the Chairperson of the Workshop Committee as well as PiC Capacity Building Program UI-KOICA), T. Ahmad Danial, S.Si., M.Kom. (Head of Operational Sub-Directorate of UI Digital Education), representing Prof. Dr. Diantha Somantri, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D. (Director of UI Digital Education Development), Eva Latifah, Ph.D. (PiC Community Engagement), and Damar Jinanto, M.Hum. (PiC MOOC Promotion), and 50 workshop participants.
In the opening of the Workshop, Dr. Untung Yuwono explained that since 2022, five main activities have been implemented in the UI-KOICA C-Hub Program, which was achieved by FIB UI in 2019. First, the construction of the C-Hub Building, an 8-story building located at FIB UI, has now reached the casting stage and is scheduled to be completed in July 2026. The building will be equipped with environmentally friendly facilities and advanced technology, including smart classrooms, digital production studios for MOOCs, auditoriums, computer labs, and co-working spaces. Second, the Capacity Building Program, including this 2nd Capacity Building Workshop for Digital Education and Humanities, which aims to strengthen the digital education skills of lecturers at UI and beyond. Third, MOOC production, with a target of 66 MOOCs completed by 2026. Fourth, the development of literacy modules, with a target of 18 modules completed by 2026. Fifth, University-Government-Industry-Community meetings, which serve as a forum for UI academics and other universities, as well as government, industry, and community representatives. This forum aims to strengthen capacity and competence in digital learning development while preparing for various future UGIC collaborative activities. The entire series of activities is not only aimed at preparing infrastructure but also human resources and digital learning products in the form of MOOCs and new literacy modules that will be offered to the public ahead of the operation of the UI-KOICA C-Hub Building. In his speech, Mr. An Kwangsoo, representing KOICA, expressed his appreciation to the Universitas Indonesia as the best university in Indonesia that is very enthusiastic about developing digital education and conveyed KOICA’s commitment to continue supporting the Universitas Indonesia in this major program. In line with this, Professor Kim Jongyong believes that the Universitas Indonesia, with its excellent academic capacity, will be able to develop digital education by collaborating with various parties both inside and outside UI.
Meanwhile, in her statement, Tamara Adriani Salim said that in line with the main mission of the UI-KOICA C-Hub Program, this second capacity building workshop was designed with several main objectives, namely to equip lecturers with the latest pedagogical tools and digital teaching methods to transform the learning experience in the classroom, strengthening the commitment of the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) to pioneer new learning models in the digital age, lecturer training and educational staff to effectively design, implement, and manage online education programs, and inspiring participants to create and manage online courses that can also open opportunities for social innovation and sustainable income. The workshop was facilitated by experienced presenters in developing digital learning materials and digital humanities, such as Dr. Muhammad Prabu Wibowo, Dr. Neni Susilawati, Dr. Lisda Liyanti, Dr. phil. Lily Tjahjandari, Dr. Evony Silvino Violita, Dr. Ari Nugraha, Dr. Ghilman Assilmi, Yudi Bachrioktora, M.A., and Nazarudin, M.A. (Trans-RMRW)
