The Dutch Studies Program, Faculty of Humanities Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI), in collaboration with Nederlandse Taalunie, has successfully organized a three-month Taaltraining Nederlands als Bronnentaal with a total of 51 hours of training, which was entirely conducted online. The training was officially closed on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in a hybrid manner.
This activity was attended by 76 participants from various institutions, such as the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI), the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, the Tangerang Provincial Library and Archives Office (Dispusip), the Central Java Dispusip, the Yogyakarta Special Region Library and Archives Office (DPAD), Cultural Preservation Center for Region XX Maluku, as well as a number of universities such as Diponegoro University (Undip), North Sumatra University (USU), Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Jember State University (UNJEM), and Sanata Dharma University, with the aim of improving Dutch language skills as a source language (bronnentaal) to support studies, research, and knowledge development in the fields of linguistics, literature, and culture.
During the course, participants receive intensive materials and experienced tutors covering the skills of reading, understanding, and analyzing Dutch texts, both in academic and practical contexts. Learning is conducted interactively through an online platform, allowing participants from various regions to participate without geographical barriers.
The head of the Dutch Studies Program at FIB UI, Dr. Indira Ismail, expressed her appreciation to all parties involved. “This training not only improves participants’ language skills, but also broadens their horizons on Dutch culture and literature. We hope that the competencies gained can be utilized for research, teaching, and international collaboration,” she said.
The closing of the training was a moment of appreciation for all participants who had shown dedication and significant progress in mastering the Dutch language. The Dutch Study Program at FIB UI, as the only undergraduate Dutch study program in Southeast Asia, is committed to continuing this program on an ongoing basis, in order to strengthen academic networks and expand access to quality foreign language learning in Indonesia.
