Faculty of Humanities UI’s international student organization, FIB International Club (FIBIC), has successfully collaborated with a non-profit organization from London, UK, namely ReachOut2All. This collaboration focuses on the issues of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number 13 (Climate Action) and 15 (Life on Land). The event also attracted international participation from various countries, including the UK, Malaysia, Turkey, Singapore, Japan, Spain, and Indonesia.
FIBIC, as the official BSO under the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia, held its flagship program, FIB International Cultural Exchange. This program aims to strengthen intercultural relations and introduce Indonesian culture to international participants, while building global awareness of environmental conservation.
The event lasted for five days, from 7th to 11th July 2025, with various educational and cultural activities. On the first day, the activities began with a welcoming session for participants and an introduction to the Universitas Indonesia campus environment. The second day began with an official welcome from the FIB UI Student Affairs Manager, James Farlow, followed by the opening of the event, which was enlivened by angklung, performances of Indonesian songs, and traditional dances. The program then continued with cultural classes and tours around the Faculty of Humanities, UI campus, and the Depok neighborhood.
The third day was filled with an introduction class from ReachOut2All, followed by a Speak-Up Conference where each delegate presented their views on SDG 13 and 15 issues. As a concrete action, the participants planted mangroves as a form of concern for the environment. The day’s activities were closed with a visit to a theater training in the Batavia area and a river cruise by boat while enjoying Indonesian snacks.
The fourth day was filled with a tour around Jakarta, visiting the Istiqlal Mosque, Cathedral Church, National Museum, and National Monument (Monas). Afterwards, participants returned to Universitas Indonesia for the Awarding Night session and the official closing of the event. On the fifth day, the event concluded with a cultural arts class, where participants learned to play a traditional Indonesian musical instrument, the gamelan.
According to the international participants, the program was very memorable and provided an unforgettable cultural experience. Many of them expressed the desire to return to similar activities in the future.
