Martial Arts Team of FIB UI Sends Delegates to National Level, Russian Studies Student Wins Karate Championship

The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) once again showed brilliant progress in the non-academic field. Sachiko, a Russian Studies student, together with the FIB UI Martial Arts team, made a proud achievement in karate.

In the DKI Jakarta Provincial Student Sports Week, which took place on June 19-22, 2025, at GOR Rawamangun, the UI team won 3rd place. The Martial Arts FIB UI delegation itself fielded 10 athletes, who then brought UI’s name to the national level.

Only a week later, Sachi made another individual achievement by winning 2nd place in Kumite -55kg Female Students at the International Pakuan Karate Championship 2025, which was held at Sport Hall Hambalang, June 27-29, 2025. Participation in two major events in a row is proof of the consistency of her training and hard work.

The long preparation was done four months earlier. In addition to practicing, Sachi also guided her friends in Martial Arts FIB UI to perform optimally. She wants to show that UI students, especially from FIB, are not only excellent in academics. Non-academic potential is also great, and events like this can be a place to develop.

However, this struggle is not easy. Sachi has to divide her time between classes, training, freelance work, and her responsibilities as head of one of the student organizations. She also takes care of various administrations, from registration to ensuring all delegation members have BPJS Employment.

Sachi hopes that the achievements of the FIB UI Martial Arts team can motivate other students to dare to try. Sachi also advised students not only to think that entering UI only focuses on studying, but also to grab various opportunities at UI. Increasing competition and organization activities that are positive is very important. According to her, the best learning is learning by doing. By taking risks and enjoying the process, the results will follow.

With solid teamwork, Martial Arts FIB UI managed to prove itself at the provincial level and stepped into the national level. For Sachiko, life is a shaping process. If we sincerely accept challenges and dare to try, the results will be beautiful. “Do your best, see you on the top”. (RMRW)
