The English Studies Student Association of the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (IKMI FIB UI), attended the screening of the legendary film Jurassic Park at @america, Pacific Place Mall, Jakarta, on Friday, August 28, 2026. This event was part of the American Film Showcase (AFS): Freedom250 Screenings, a film diplomacy initiative by the U.S. Embassy in collaboration with the USC School of Cinematic Arts to commemorate 250 years of American democracy, innovation, and creativity.
Through the screening of this iconic blockbuster, students were invited to examine the excellence of the American film industry, cinematic technological innovations, and its global cultural influence. In addition to enjoying the movie, the student delegation also explored various interactive educational and technological facilities available at @america, ranging from an international digital library to virtual reality (VR) technology.
This visit is expected to strengthen cultural and academic ties between the FIB UI academic community and @america, while expanding spaces for cultural dialogue through audiovisual arts. Through this cultural diplomacy program, students are encouraged not only to appreciate global artworks but also to hone their critical thinking regarding developments in the international creative industry.
