The Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI), participated in the International Education and Technology Expo (IIETE) 2025, held on 20–22 November 2025 at Jatim Expo Surabaya. This annual event featured a series of information sessions and education exhibitions aimed at high school students and prospective postgraduate students from various regions in East Java and beyond. Representing Universitas Indonesia, FIB UI participated in an information session delivered by Chysanti Arumsari, M.A., Head of Public Relations and Protocol. Although most attendees were high school students, the presentation also covered postgraduate programs and the fast-track admission scheme.
Detailed explanations were provided to clarify common misconceptions among prospective students and parents regarding the scope of each study program. For example, the English Studies program not only focuses on literature but also includes language, culture, society, and applied skills. Meanwhile, the Library and Information Science program now emphasizes digital archiving and data management, aligning with contemporary technological developments.
At this exhibition, several faculties from Universitas Indonesia also took part, including the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Engineering (FT), and the Vocational Education Program. IIETE 2025 featured participation from approximately 32 educational institutions from Indonesia and abroad. International institutions included Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Prince of Songkla University, Bangkok University, HSE Saint-Petersburg, and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Several Indonesian public universities, such as Udayana University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Airlangga University, Surabaya State University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, and Diponegoro University, also joined this year’s event.
Visitor enthusiasm was extremely high, with thousands of students attending over the three days—either with their schools or independently. The organizers provided shuttle buses for schools in the Surabaya area, while many students from other cities arrived by private vehicles, buses, or trains.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors eagerly sought information about UI’s admission pathways, study programs, academic processes, campus facilities, student activities, tuition fees, and career prospects. Interest in FIB UI’s study programs was notably high, as many high school students were already familiar with the humanities programs offered by the faculty.
FIB UI’s participation in events such as IIETE has proven effective in broadening promotional reach, strengthening the faculty’s public image, and increasing interest in its academic programs. FIB UI remains committed to supporting UI’s efforts to enhance its institutional reputation and attract high-quality prospective students. (Trans-CA)
