Program Bahasa, Budaya dan Magang FIB UI dan Asia University Jepang

 

Selama semester ganjil 2018-19 lalu, FIB UI menerima 21 mahasiswa jurusan Urban Innovation dari Asia University, Jepang untuk program bahasa, budaya dan magang di FIB UI dan di beberapa Lembaga Non-Pemerintah di Jakarta. Dari September hingga Desember 2017, seluruh mahasiswa tersebut mengikuti kelas kemahiran bahasa Inggris dan Indonesia bersama dengan dosen-dosen dari prodi Inggris dan Indonesia FIB UI. Pada bulan Januari 2018, para mahasiswa tersebut melakukan program magang selama 2 minggu di SMK yang dibangun dan dikelola bersama dengan beberapa perusahaan Jepang di kawasan Industri MM2100, Cikarang, Jawa Berat bersama dengan tim dosen Asia University. Setelahnya, mereka mengikuti program magang di beberapa NGO di Jakarta bersama dengan FIB UI untuk mendalami isu-isu perkotaan di Jakarta, di antaranya penataan kampung, pemetaan, penggusuran dan pemugaran kampung. Dibagi ke dalam 4 kelompok, para mahasiswa Jepang tersebut melakukan magang selama 5 hari di Ciliwung Merdeka, Urban Poor Consortium, Forum Warga Kota Jakarta (FAKTA) dan RUJAK Center for Urban Studies. Selama magang, mereka terjun langsung ke kampung-kampung di antaranya kampung Lodan, Akuarium, Bukit Duri, Penas dan Cikini untuk melakukan observasi lapangan, pengumpulan data, reportase dan interaksi bersama dengan warga kampung. Setelah program magang, FIB UI menyelenggarakan sesi diskusi dan refleksi bersama dengan dosen-dosen FIB UI dan Asia University, mendengarkan berbagai kisah menarik dan aspirasi masa depan mahasiswa Jepang tersebut.

FIB UI Hosts a Language, Culture and Internship Program for Students of Asia University, Japan

During the first round of the academic year 2018-19, FIB UI received 21 students majoring in Urban Innovation from Asia University, japan who joined a culture, language and internship program in FIB UI and NGOs in Jakarta area. From September to December 2017, all the Japanese students attended classes on English and Indonesian language skills taught by the lecturers from the English and Indonesian Studies programs. In January 2018, the students followed a 2-week internship program at a vocational school established and managed in collaboration with Japanese companies in the MM2100 Industrial area in Cikarang, West Java the company of Asia University team. Afterwards, the participated in a 1-week internship program at Indonesian NGOs in various locations in Jakarta with FIB UI, learning and exploring about urban-related issues in the city including village mapping, restructuring, rejuvenation and evictions. Divided into 4 groups, the students went to Ciliwung Merdeka, Urban Poor Consortium, Forum Warga Kota Jakarta (FAKTA) dan RUJAK Center for Urban Studies and visited some villages and conducted field observations, particularly in kampung Lodan, Akuarium, Bukit Duri, Penas dan Cikini. They gathered data, interacted with and helped the local communities accompanied by the NGO staff. After the internship program, FIB UI conducted a mini workshop for students to discuss and reflect on their experiences in Indonesia and talk about their future aspirations with fellow students and lecturers from FIB UI and Asia University, Japan.
